Thankful

We started the process of building out the foundation and prepping for the future “she shed” that will house my home office and interview space for the Vlog.

I realize that most of you don’t have really any idea what I am talking about, but to a few personal friends, it’s a big deal, and something I have been talking about for years!

When I started to share my vision with those around me, let them in a little bit, what happened was pretty amazing! They started holding me accountable to make it happen. Not just nagging me on “come on, just do it” type of stuff. But, they all showed up last week, when we had randomly talked about having that be the day that we were going to start………over a month ago. And all I could think about was, “I was really looking forward to a hot shower and lounging, but ok, let’s dig a foundation in a thunderstorm.”

This made me think about how blessed I am. I don’t know what other word you could use to describe the support that I and my family gets from the community around us. Since, we opened our business almost 6 years ago, it has been nothing short of amazing.

I have had hundreds of hours donating by people in our community to execute on a very clear vision in my head.

I once had a staff member say to me, “OH! I’ve got it figured out………we are all here to figure out how to make your ideas a reality.” I kind of giggled and didn’t know whether to be offended or feel proud. In the end, I knew it was mostly the truth, so really, what could I say?

I am an idea person who loves execution. I have learned over the years, that it is a gift and a curse. Thankfully, I have found others who like to “get shit done”, as I like to say, and I have surrounded myself with them. I know, that people haven’t always believed or understand exactly what I was trying to accomplish, but they helped me anyway. Out of kindness, trust, and support.

I have had people save me from school and activity pickup, getting my kids for me. I have people spend all night working on maintenance. I have had people work until their arms didn’t work again. People have helped me lay flooring, wood shake a wall, install a rig, build a shower, move equipment, move 2 houses worth of stuff, lay gravel, stomp gravel, make dump runs, you name it, it’s been done with the support of our community and our family.

It’s pretty amazing.

In a world that seems like it is filled with unkindness and unhappiness, I feel like we have a little bit of heaven…………here, in the community that we helped build. I used to say that we started the business, so we could have people to be around. It is still true, but what I have realized, is that it was to build a network, a community, for our family and those other families that are part of it.

So, THANK YOU to everyone who is a part of it, big and small. And, if you haven’t leaned on your community in awhile, I would suggest you do so. It’s pretty awesome.
